General comments
This coastal campsite just south of the FNQ town of Cooktown is a little open to the prevailing SE winds but nonetheless a great spot to camp. Camping is available in three separate areas in close proximity to each other.

Campsite 1 (aka The Thong Tree) is the first campsite as you approach Archer Point and is approximately 1 km short of the lighthouse. This area is amongst the trees with beach access adjacent a creek. Protected from the winds but the midges could be a bit of a problem here in the still just before dark. Room for approximately 3 campertrailers or 5 tents with vehicle access. GPS 15° 36′ 9"S 145° 19′ 26"E.

Campsite 2 is the first of the beachside sites. This is fairly open to the south easterly winds, which were in fine form at 30-40 knots during our visit, and could get a bit uncomfortable at tim.... Remainder of the content is available on the CampGroundCorner CD
