| This is an easy drive with excellent views, which can be accessed in a 4WD without low range. The campground is good with several attractions nearby, such as inspecting the ruins, fishing and bushwalking. This site is best visited in the summer, but if you go in winter, carry chains and warm clothing as it can get very cold and it often snows. Water available from the river. This is a dispersed.... | Lobbs Hole was an old stopping place on the road to the Kiandra diggings, and copper ore was discovered as early as 1866. More historical information on the area is available at the website identified above. John Forrstrom built the Washington Hotel on the new township site of Ravine opposite Wilson’s Crossing on the Yarrangobilly in 1908-9 at a cost of £2000. The licence ceased in February 1915 due to downturn in business following little mining activity, but the hotel remained listed and appears to have offered accommodation. From 1914 to 1921 the....
