| Accommodation is provided inside the homestead, which sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms, plus another 4 (1 double, one twin singles) in the “manager’s quarters” when this is not occupied by Rangers. Wander around the outbuildings, and examine the old handicrafts evident in their slab construction and in the construction of slip-rail gates etc. Walk up to Edward’s grave and ponder over the hardships of the settlers and the responsibilities placed upon their children. Canoe Launching is available from a river crossing east of the homestead. Extensive verandahs and seating to relax and gaze over the property and surrounding peaks. Emergency telephone. The access road is steep, and owing to an accident camper trailers are now barred – in any case, vehicles need central diff locks and traction control to guarantee your ability to get out if the weather turns wet. Entry is limited to vehicles with accommodation bookings only, so you can’t “go in for a quick look around”. Access is through a locked gate, and k.... | Drive to East Kunderang takes 2-3 hrs from Armidale. Travel along the waterfall way towards Ebor from Armidale. Turn left into the Kempsey – Armidale Rd 2 kms after the Wollombi River Bridge.
