General comments
This is a large campground that is well designed and established in a bush setting in the heart of the Flinders Ranges. Some parts are accessible to 2WD and caravans and other are set aside for 4WD with a more difficult access. Access and camping fees are payable in all parts of the Flinders Ranges National Park and self registration stations are strategicall.... History on the area
The gorge was first used as a commercial route for the transport of the copper ore from the mine in Blinman from 1862, until Blinman was connected with the northern railway through Parachilna Gorge in the 1880s. Brachina Gorge is one of the park's most popular and spectacular tourist attractions. The gorge is an important refuge for the Yellow-footed Rock-wallaby as well as many species of birds and reptiles. The Brachina Gorge Geological Tour is a 20 km self-guided trail that passes ....
