Is there a  difference in using CampGroundCorner on a PocketPC compared to a PC?

Yes. Using CGC on a PocketPC (PPC) is fundamentally different as the screen size is greatly reduced and CGC mapping is not available. Many PPC users already have a GPS-enabled mapping system in place on the PPC. With this in mind, we have focused on making CGC data available to these applications as well as making it easy to find a CGC entry.

Installing CGC onto your PPC

You will need app. 1.5Gb of memory on your PPC or its memory card; the following instructions assume a memory card.

Steps to installation:

  1. Create a folder on the memory card.
    e.g.    My Device\Storage Card\CGC\
  2. Copy some folders from the CD into the folder created on the PocketPC.
    ?:\data
    ?:\ppc
  3. Start CGC on the PocketPC by double tapping My Device\Storage Card\CGC\ppc\index.htm
  4. You can make CGC the default home page. Once the CGC index page is loaded tap Tools|Options, and on the general tab tap ‘Use Current”.

Time taken to copy files.

In order to maximize performance and document loading speed on the PocketPC, documents have been kept as small as possible. To get all the content in the type of format, a large number of documents is required. The downside is that copying so many files to a memory card is very slow. The copy / install process may take some time but it is worth the overhead for faster operation of CGC on the PocketPC.
