Introduction to contents

Each site description gives information on location (including accuracy and how the locational information was acquired);  type of site; the facilities; how to get there; good and bad aspects; fees; and an overall “satisfaction rating”. Some contain additional information such as historical notes, OziExplorer track files, links to nearby sites or treks on the CD; and links to websites with relevant information. A key feature is that all this information has been collected by LRC members and friends.

Explanation of symbols and terms

Lat Long co-ordinates:

As far as possible, co-ordinates are based on WGS48 GPS readings taken at the site. Where another method has been used (eg calculation from a map), the method is shown and an estimate of accuracy is given.

Distance from a known point:

A distance in kilometres is given in direct distance, with an approximate direction (eg 36 km SSE of Bombala NSW), to assist in finding the site on your own map or helping you appreciate where the site is when you are unfamiliar with the region in which it lies.

Facilities/features icons:

Hover the cursor over the icon to see what it means.

Site ratings

Our system of site ratings is reflected by the number of “Golden Landies” awarded to each site – 5 = top notch; 4 = above average; 3 = satisfactory; 2 = will do at a pinch; and 1 = best avoided. These ratings are given by the persons submitting the recce forms, and are very much individual opinions commonly influenced by conditions on the day of the visit such as weather/track conditions, cleanliness etc. Conditions may be different when you visit, so please take the ratings as a general indication only.

How do I get there?

A text description to most sites is provided from a well-known point, usually a town or major road junction. Some site descriptions include OziExplorer waypoints and OziExplorer track plots. Go to Using CGC with OziExplorer to learn more about these features.

Abbreviations used are:

  • TL/TR – turn left/right
  • VL/VR – veer left/right
  • TJ - track junction
  • RJ – road junction
  • YJ – Y junction
  • PSA – proceed straight ahead.
