Announcements

At the past few LRC Committee meetings a number of club matters have been raised that need to be taken to the general members for comment.  It is the members that make the LRC the great 4x4 and social club that it is, and the voice and opinions of all members are important to us to steer the Club in the direction of the collective point of view, now and for the foreseeable future.  These matters are as follows:

1.  Continuing involvement in the 4x4 Spectacular Show.  There will be a special workshop meeting held on 12 April 2012, starting  7pm, open to ALL members.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss LRC’s role in the next 4x4 Spectacular Show and seek input from members ahead of signing the next Memorandum of Understanding by the LRC and other clubs.  The location is to be confirmed and is dependent on the number of attendees.  (RSVP to president@lrc.org.au ).

2.  Attracting younger members.  The LRC has been around for 40 years, and in that time has had a steady membership base.  While I have enjoyed membership for a mere 4 years, I am still learning the history of the club.  In my communication with club members, the possibility of encouraging membership of a responsibly-minded younger demographic, including families, has been raised more than a few times.  The committee and I are seeking submissions from members on how the LRC could achieve this.  One comment made by Roger Quarterman which makes perfect sense is to promote the Club and its activities, and not promote membership alone.  It would be of great benefit to the Club to receive your comments on this matter.  Submissions in any form should be sent to:  president@lrc.org.au.  All correspondence received will made available to the Committee and members for consideration, and from that we can determine the best course of action to promote the Club.
